Arrived.

Hello all,
I have made it to the Kingdom of Bahrain.  I only have like 5 mins...but I'm busy busy checking in and whatnot.  Getting uniforms...travel claims...agh all the good stuff. It is offensively warm outside.  You get drenched in sweat 5 mins into your walk.  Well, me anyway.  I haven't quite climatized = ).  I will eventually.  I have my address, if anyone is interested.
CTR2 RYDER

PSC 451
FPO AE 09501
I think mail is pretty fast here, but there's no telling.  I guess the actual country mail is taken on camel back.  Good thing we have vehicles for mail in this place.
Anyway, until next time take care!

Hello One, Hello All!

I am at the Subaru Dealer getting the Ru some new oil and greasen up her tubes or something.  I should be doing my taxes I suppose, as they are due in ohhhhh 8 days.  Oh deer.

Well anywho, I'm about to push off from these parts they call Great Lakes, and head south by southwest.  I'm a drivin home to get my life packed out and put into storage.  Then, to St. Louis to get my car to good ol Pontoon Beach.

The stars have aligned and I will get to see everyone on Easter Sundee at GC's.  Mom and Dick are coming down, too.  Sarah has Monday off so I'll be able to spend some quality time with da sis.  = )

I sure am ready to leave this place, it's freeezing.  though, it'll be strange going from 30 degrees to 130 degrees.   It's going to be like a year living in a sauna.  Maybe the pounds'll just fall off.  Forget the pain and stress of getting into my swimsuit shape = )

I've met quite a few people here, done some networking, and have got back into the swing of how things work in the Navy.  Probably because they've got us put up at good ol Ship 17 on Recruit Training Camp.  There's nothin like hearing recruits chanting "Anchors Away" every morning at 530.  Then it's reveille at 6, formation at 715, give the ship a good sweep down and cleaning of the heads and berthing.  Then it's colors at 8, and on with the day.  Did anyone understand that? hehe  Iiiiin the Navy..... Isn't that a song or something?

I'm sippin on some Jamba Juice, sad to say there is nada in Bahrain.  Boo huh. So i'm soakin up all the Strawberry Surfrider I can until I leave.

I'm not sure on the actual date I push off.  I will know tomorrow I suppose.  I have an appt. at 1030 with the travel office and they'll issue me tickets then with dates and such.  I'm interested to see how they've got me getting over there.  Someone I work with said she had to MAC flight her way there when she went.  But it wasn't anything like the space-available flights I took to Europe, she said the plane was more like a commercial airline.  Thank goodness.  I don't think I can handle many more 17 hour C-130 flights.  So I'm leaving here Thursday afternoon with hopes of pulling into the Ville on Friday afternoon.  My packout is Monday-Tuesday, I'm planning to head to St. Louis on Thursday and fly out Friday.  I assume travel will take a good 2 days to get over there.  I wonder what the time change is like... hmm.

I hope everyone is doing well,  take care!

Love, Hannah
